Ed Mead is a revolutionary, Queer, Godless Commie and Ex-Political Prisoner who went to jail for his part in a group called the George Jackson Brigade, which carried out a number of bombings, prisoner liberation’s and bank expropriations to further anti-capitalist struggle in the Pacific Northwest.

Earful of Queer talked with Ed about the history of his incarceration and his work with the revolution prison group called Men Against Sexism, which used violence and the threat of violence to stop rape within prisons in the Northwest of America in the 70’s.

We hear about the rise and fall of Men Against Sexism, failed escape attempts by Ed Mead & other revolutionaries, and the state of prison resistance then and now.

This is a beautiful collection of stories of queers engaged in class war against the state, and of small victories in that struggle.

Pink Bloc action against the Police

Fuck the Police

 

On Saturday Sept. 18^th 2010 in Toronto, 40 people came out for a pink bloc action called to confront the police. The cops were planning on hosting a queer recruitment drive at the 519 community centre, in the queer village.

Organized under the banner, No Queers In Uniform, they planned their own recruitment drive to draw attention to the queer-phobic policies and tactics of the police. Earful of Queer was there to get the low down on exactly what was going down on church st.

Empowering Paps for People With Cervixes

This panel is a followup from a workshop at Queeriot, a radical queer convergence that took place in Guelph in June.  In this panel two local midwifery students, Aoife and Galya discuss how to make getting a pap an empowering experience.  They talk about everything from who should get a pap, why folks should get regular paps, what to expect, and things you can do to make it a more empowering experience.

They also provide resources such as the Check it out Guys campaign by Planned Parenthood.
